When Chris and Mariesa first launched Mr. Mo Project, they had no idea how popular it would become.
Their initial intention was to provide care packages to senior canines at their local shelter,
but things quickly escalated to the point where they began taking in dogs themselves.
Their network of rescuers extends as far as New York and Canada, in addition to California. They have a simple yet challenging task, as they do not wish to leave any canines behind.
Over the course of six years, the duo has spared over 500 animals,
a remarkable feat considering that many of these dogs would have been put to death without their intervention.
The idea was inspired by Moses, a lovable canine who had overstayed his welcome at a local animal shelter. After spending only four short weeks with Moses prior to his passing,
the two began to consider the lives of other aging dogs who had unquestionably endured similar difficulties as Moses.
The Mr. Mo initiative’s motto is “the best for the rest,” which simply means that they want to provide senior canines with the best possible experience for the remainder of their lives.
It is a magnificent mission.
The couple routinely solicits donations from well-wishers for expensive procedures, but on occasion they fall short of their fundraising goals and are compelled to pay for the therapy themselves.
They joke that anything that is not nailed down in their residence could be sold!
Nonetheless, this provides a glimpse into the character of these two remarkable individuals who go above and beyond to ensure that senior dogs enjoy a tranquil and comfortable retirement.
I will leave you with Mariesa’s remarks, which sum up their purpose so beautifully: Because it is our passion and a tremendously enjoyable activity,
I believe we are extremely fortunate. We are incredibly fortunate to be able to do this.
