Fifty the Pitbull was born to help others. When his mother was rescued by a kind family, she was pregnant.
Fifty was eventually adopted by the family as one of their litter mates.
The lively pup was living a happy life with his family and another small dog, Izzy when the unimaginable happened.
A police officer on patrol became concerned when he noticed Fifty and shot him in both his right limbs.
Fifty was an adorable, friendly dog, so this is a typical example of Pit Bull prejudice.
However, this terrible event irreparably altered his life, and the poor dog had to have both of his right legs amputated as a result of gunshot wounds.
Fifty was just learning to balance on his two surviving legs when his world was turned upside down again.
This time, Fifty and Izzy’s owners were forced to surrender them to the shelter after losing their homes to the recession.
After losing the only consistency in his life, Fifty is back to square one.
During this dark and difficult time in his life, Fifty became aware of his inner spark. He refused to be a victim of circumstance and decided to earn his place.
At first, he stood with the help of the walls but wobbled many times.
He was soon able to walk and run normally thanks to his unwavering dedication and tenacity!
After 9 months of rebuilding at the shelter, Fifty finally found his forever home.
He instantly fell in love with his new companions and siblings and promised to be a sweet pup for them every day.
He settled into his new life, which included many exciting adventures and cuddle sessions.
Fifty’s new owners regularly take in dogs in need, so the big guy jumped at the chance to be the perfect foster brother for other sad creatures like him.
Fifty is an incredible survivor who stands tall despite his disability and the many obstacles life has thrown at him.
Let’s celebrate this underdog’s story and show that pit bulls are more than just a “hated breed”.
