Fortuitously, a benevolent person intervened and rescued me from certain death.
En route to work, Malissa Sergent Lewis opted for a shortcut and noticed a moving black garbage bag on the path. As detailed in an account by the Dodo, she contemplated,
“Did I just see that bag shift?” As she approached closer, she became aware that the bag was in motion. “I couldn’t imagine what that felt like. I knew there was life in that bag, and I had to free it.”

When she stopped to inspect the bag (a risky move), she was stunned to discover a black puppy within it (which could have been a wild animal).
Moreover, the puppy was outfitted with a collar, indicating that he had previously been under an owner’s care. It was apparent that someone had deliberately abandoned him.
Lewis took the puppy in and shared his image on social media in the event that he had been stolen or somebody had been seeking him.
The puppy, now known as Hefty, found a new home with the Lewis family after being rescued from a trash bag by a kind-hearted woman.
It was his fate to be saved, and now he leads a content and healthy existence!
